EDGE brings together a select group of international artists and designers for an exhibition of original works in multiple mediums with a key tie - collaborative wallpapers.
The exhibition is a visual journey of tropical, nautical and visceral themes brought fourththrough mixed media, painting, furniture, sculpture, scent, and site specific installation.
Miami native Cristina Lei Rodriguez unveils functional sculptures, new works on wallpaper and an 18 foot multi paneled textile mural in the exhibitions living room area. Fossilized Mussels (Silver) is the result of hand worked layers of epoxy resin, paint, concrete and gold to evoke a harmonious and oceanic mood.
The collaboration of Swiss design trio, atelier oï and Moroccan luxury crafters L’ Atelier Casablanca presents handmade leather trunks housing the suspended mobile and scented origami installation Honminoshi Garden as well as a retro-futuristic bar trunk which houses exclusive wine, champagne and spirits.
Brooklyn transplant Eric Bear, who's paintings extend to the collections of Martha Stewart and Isaac Mizrahi sets the tone for tropical modern at the exhibition entrance with his painting titled Nocturnal Emissions. The work is accompanied by a newly released wallcovering that includes highly detailed sections of foliage that were landscaped and manicured by the artist at his home in Little Haiti.
Los Angeles native and tape art wunderkind, Flëkz, creates a site specific ceiling and floor installation in the dining room of the marina lounge that will transform throughout the week. Flëkz works with Nitto tape to produce exceptional geometry without the use of rulers or measuring tools. Other works from Flekz include a collaboration piece titled Ritmo with Londubh Studio and a texturized wallcovering inspired by the work.
Istanbul artist Mert Özgen’s hyperrealistic portraits draw inspiration from the endless beauty of women described in classic literature. Juxtaposing notions of cosmetics with the use of wounds painted on the subjects skin. The two paintings are accompanied by a wallpaper mural of sharp blood corals and lavish gold metallic.
The exterior facade of the building has been transformed by EDGE Collections co-founders and exhibition curators Carl Pascuzzi and Phoebe St. Germain Fellows. White Petal Forest (Philodendron), first shown at the Wolfsonian Museum in 2015 has been repurposed to fit the grand scale of the marina lounge creating a tropical camouflage within the waterfront setting.
Hong Kong based Pigro Felice provides seating in the outdoor areas which overlook Biscayne bay and Downtown Miami’s skyline. Guests are invited to seek refuge throughout the week as the location is a perfect halfway point between art fairs on South Beach and Midtown and Wynwood areas in the mainland.

Their large scale installations have recently been included in Venice Design 2016, during the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale.
Their list of collaborations includes Hotel Shangri-La, Rockwell Group, Van Cleef & Arpels, Neiman Marcus, Google, Fiat North America, and various architects, designers, and tastemakers. Venice Architecture Biennale
Venice Design 2016
VENICE DESIGN 2016 brings together an international set of designers of diverse cultural backgrounds – young and senior, established and emerging. It is noted for being one of the inaugural exhibitions to showcase current design developments during the Venice Architecture Biennale. Participants from 17 countries come to present their ideas and stories: from the use of traditional thousand year old techniques to the most innovative technological solutions available.
EDGE Collections has been invited to participate in this year's exhibition with an installation designed to provide grand juxtaposition of current space and time with respect to the undeniable historical presence of Palazzo Michiel. The palace will house the exhibit in context of la Biennale di Venezia from May 28th to November 27th, 2016.
"We have repurposed, found, and manufactured objects with the intent of giving them new life and a sense of place within imagery that makes up each functional piece. Industrial cuts of steel, fencing, caging, wire, aluminum, glass, mirror, chain, paper and paint were transformed, layered, photographed, and reworked into the form of paneled wallpaper, textiles and decorative mirror, all with the intent of giving these items new life and existence inside Palazzo Michiel. The aesthetic relies heavily on the use of color, scale, texture, and depth of repetitive pattern. In this case, we use multiple metallic tones as tribute to the opulence of the palazzo. From a distance the repetition provides a transformation of symmetry allowing the common materials to take on a second incarnation in the form of luxury goods."
For Venice Design 2016, EDGE has collaborated with music producer Altowave – Daniel Boukata from Sydney, Australia – who has designed the room's ambient sound and musical score. Venice Design 2016 Participating designers:

Architectural Digest Design Show
Miami, Florida, February 18, 2016—This March, a unique interior design collection created by famed Miami artist Cristina Lei Rodriguez, in partnership with specialist producers EDGE Collections (Exceptional Design Goes Everywhere), debuts at the 2016 Architectural Digest Design Show in New York. Cristina Lei Rodriguez began her career showing multimedia sculptures that mimicked fantastical gardens and Baroque landscapes at Miami’s top artist run spaces. This soon led to solo exhibitions at renowned international galleries Emmanuel Perrotin, Team Gallery and Fred Snitzer. Always incorporating a life-size utilitarian component to her work, it was a natural progression for Rodriguez to focus her eye on design—and so began her partnership with the Miami production team EDGE Collections. A unique artist-centric approach combined with high-end custom production capabilities quickly led to museum exhibitions as well as a major 2015 Art Basel Miami Beach Sotheby’s collaboration. Now after two prosperous years the team are tackling New York with Cristina Lei Rodriguez x EDGE Collections, an immersive design installation in solo booth #M509 as part of MADE, a curated section focused on independent design at the Architectural Digest Design Show—the premiere luxury design trade fair at Pier 92 & 94 from March 17- 20, 2016.
Cristina Lei Rodriguez was born in Miami, Florida to a Japanese American Hawaiian- born mother and Cuban father. After graduating she became known for her distinct fantastical foliage-like sculptures that compiled resin, glitter, found materials and more in to lavish objects and environments. These works both critique and celebrate the inherent political attributes of pleasurable aesthetics such as shine and glamour while depicting elements of the natural world. Rodriguez carried her affinity for shine and the Baroque to “natural” designs. The methods of printing used by EDGE collections, with whom she has partnered since 2014, were a perfect fit. Not only are EDGE Collections able to achieve unsurpassed shimmering metallic effects, their process also considers the environment using VOC toxin-free ink—an important consideration for Rodriguez whose work carries a conscientious undertone, purposefully mimicking real-life natural phenomena using artificial materials.
First shown at the Bass Museum of Art in 2015 as part of the “Gold” exhibition, the Cristina Lei Rodriguez x EDGE Collection designs were spotted by Sotheby’s resulting in major showcase at Miami’s 1 Hotel penthouse during the 2015 Art Basel Miami Beach art fair in partnership with the auction house. The installation included panel paintings, wallpapers and handmade furniture displaying Rodriguez’s penchant for transforming interior spaces in to delightfully titillating sensorial environments. Sotheby’s Senior Vice President, Maria Bonta de la Pezuela comments:
We were thrilled to showcase Cristina’s work. I've been a fan of hers for about 15 years—since I first met her in Miami.
Selected for MADE, the curated independent design section of the 2016 Architectural Digest Design, Cristina Lei Rodriguez x EDGE Collections solo booth will feature a five panel shimmering Gold Ore painting, a series of smaller color tone paintings, handmade sculptural stools and benches, custom fabric and wallpaper designs as well as never before seen lighting designs created for New York. The booth design is described by Cristina Lei Rodriguez as ”a transformative and seductive space that invites interaction.” Her signature creative style, EDGE Collections expert production, and wallpaper that can be scaled and installed specifically to the measurements of almost any space has resulted in a design series that is already highly sought after by collectors and curators alike. Bass Museum of Art curator Jose Diaz who worked with the team on the “Gold” exhibition among others shares:
Cristina Lei Rodriguez x Edge Collections is earmarked as the new emerging design series to watch. Their artistic ingenuity means that their pieces function simultaneously as artworks and furniture and also tastefully express the kind of glamour and glitz we all hope to live in, and with.
